Genoa upends Lady Trojans

TEXARKANA – Genoa Central used 10 hits and four Parkers Chapel errors and pulled away to a 9-4 non-conference softball victory on Wednesday.

The Lady Dragons scored three runs in the first, two in the third and tacked on four more in the fourth inning.

Kallie Martin took the loss for the Lady Trojans. The freshman surrendered nine runs, but only two were earned. She gave up eight hits with a strikeout and a walk in four innings. Ashton Herrin pitched two scoreless innings for PC, allowing two hits.

Gracie Fowler was the winning pitcher for Genoa, fanning seven and walking seven in seven innings.

The Lady Trojans had seven hits in the game. Drue Thomas and Madison Arnold both went 2-for-3. Reaux McAuliffe had a solo home run in the sixth inning.

PC drew first blood with a run in the top of the first. McAuliffe walked and scored on Thomas’ hit. The Lady Trojans scored again in the second when Arnold singled and eventually scored on an error. The third run came in the fifth when Arnold singled, went to second and then third on wild pitches before stealing home.
