El Dorado swept both boys and girls championships Tuesday in the 5A-South Golf Tournament, played on a rain-soaked Mystic Creek course.

Miller Wallace led a balanced scoring attack by the Wildcats, who scored a 339 to out-shoot Hot Springs Lakeside’s 346. White Hall (414) and Lake Hamilton (428) rounded out the boys’ scores.

Aubrey Marx and Hope Walthall led the Lady Wildcats, who shot 288 to drown the rest of the field by 84 strokes. Sheridan was a distant second with 372 while Lake Hamilton shot 375.

"Really proud of our kids today," said El Dorado coach Chris Ezell. "To go out and play in those conditions, with the scores we turned in, showed that mental toughness we needed to win. The weather was going to be an issue for the rest of the week and everyone was determined to finish it today."

Marx and Walthall each shot 92 to tie for medalist runner-up behind Sheridan’s Emma Hester, who was a shot better at 91.

Alexa Hulsey (104) and Lani Hammock (106) rounded out the Lady Wildcats’ scores.

El Dorado’s boys featured a remarkably balanced scoring round. Wallace shot 81 with Keaton Michael firing an 83, Jon Brooks Elia 86 and Preston Howard an 89. Aaron Ezell rounded out the team with a 100 on a day which saw rain throughout the tournament.

Lakeside’s Wil Griffin was medalist with a 75. Wallace was runner-up.
