Parkers Chapel falls to Fordyce

FORDYCE - Ja'quez Cross ran for three touchdowns and Jaheim Brown ran for two scores and threw for another to lead Fordyce to a 55-12 win over Parkers Chapel in 8-2A play Friday night.

The Trojans struck first with Trace Shoup firing a 70-yard touchdown pass to Jeremiah Hutchinson to take a 6-0 lead just 84 seconds into the game.

However, the Redbugs immediately answered with Cross scoring on a 40-yard run just 10 seconds later with the extra point giving Fordyce a 7-6 edge.

The Trojans reclaimed the lead at the 4:28 mark of the opening period on a 25-yard strike from Shoup to Lancer Clark that gave PC a 12-7 lead, but the Redbugs again answered with Brown scoring on a 2-yard run to make it 13-12.

Fordyce led by the same margin at the end of the first quarter, but pulled away in the second quarter.

Mantrell Neal scored on a 43-yard touchdown pass from Brown to extend the lead to 20-12.

Cross scored on touchdown runs of 16 and 14 yards that were sandwiched around a 3-yard run by Gary Lewis that gave Fordyce a 41-12 lead at halftime before winning by the final margin.

Fordyce (8-0, 3-0) hits the road to take on Hampton next week.

Parkers Chapel (1-7, 0-3) plays at Strong next week.
