An investigation is ongoing after an El Dorado man was reported missing by his mother last week.

According to an El Dorado Police report, Zachary Shaw, 27, was reported missing on Saturday, May 30, shortly after 2 p.m. Shaw’s mother said her son was last seen Wednesday, May 27.

She told an EPD officer Shaw had been staying at the Econolodge on Junction City Road since Memorial Day, May 25, when he went missing. An employee at the hotel provided the officer with security footage showing Shaw leaving the premises headed west, in the direction of the Rainbow Food Mart down the road.

His mother said Shaw had been acting “a little different the last few days,” according to the police report. She told the EPD officer she tried contacting him, but his phone was turned off; she said friends of Shaw’s she reached out to also said they hadn’t seen him.

Lt. Andrew Russell, public information officer for the EPD, said in an email that Shaw’s whereabouts were still unknown Wednesday afternoon.

Koren Perry, Shaw’s sister, said her brother was spotted again on May 27 near Smackover State Bank, where he withdrew money from his account before walking to Sonic and then Bodenhamer Park, on North West Avenue and Fifth Street, by Memorial Stadium.

He was last seen wearing a shirt showing Donald Duck flexing his muscles; the shirt is gray on the front and appeared in security footage to be white on the back. He was wearing plaid shorts. Perry said he may have two backpacks with him and he is known to sometimes wear glasses.

“We just want to make sure he is okay,” Perry said. “We are all worried about him.”

Anyone with information about Shaw’s whereabouts should contact Detective Gerid Ardwin at the El Dorado Police Department. The EPD’s office number is 870-881-4800.
