Carolyn Howell Robinson of El Dorado, Arkansas, departed to her eternal home June 29, 2020, surrounded in love by her children and sister. She is reunited with her beloved husband, Ron, grandson, Henry, sister, Nancy, and parents, Earl and Carolyn.

Carolyn was born October 31, 1935 in Austin, Texas, the second of three daughters born to Earl and Carolyn Howell. She attended Gulf Park College for Women before transferring to the University of Texas where she graduated with a degree in elementary education. Here she met the love of her life, and husband of 57 years, Ron Robinson. Carolyn was the proud mother of Jeffrey, Adrienne Ann, and Paige Marie and doting grandmother to seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Carolyn taught second grade before devoting herself to home and family. Her children fondly recall meal times at the table where Sunday Pot Roast and Monday Fried Chicken dinners were favorites. As her children grew, Carolyn invested her exceptional organizational and merchandising skills into running The Slaughter House of Gifts, a local El Dorado business she owned for over twenty years.

Carolyn delighted in watching her garden grow, maintaining a beautiful yard, playing bridge with dear friends, and traveling. She was always ready for a road trip and never missed an opportunity for adventure. While Carolyn enjoyed traveling the world, family gatherings at the beach each summer were her most cherished trips.

Carolyn was an active member of First United Methodist Church in El Dorado. Daily she put her hope and trust in Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior. Family and friends found in her a quiet confidence rooted in faith. Carolyn is survived by her children and their spouses; Jeffrey and Katie Robinson, Adrienne Ann and Dick Ilseman, Paige Marie and DJ Davis. She is also survived by six grandchildren who love their “Honey” very much; Carolyn Reeves Robinson, Emma Rose and Susannah Ilseman, Sydney and John Oakes, Robert and Mary Davis, and Sophie Davis. Carolyn was so proud to have welcomed the first great-grandchild into the family, Paige Marie Oakes. Her youngest sister, Molly Woodland, along with many cousins, nephews and nieces, mourn her passing.

The family is grateful for the compassionate support of friends and loved ones. Due to COVID-19, a memorial service celebrating Carolyn’s life will be held at a future date at First United Methodist Church in El Dorado. A family beach ceremony will take place on the Gulf Coast. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carolyn’s memory may be made to First United Methodist Church of El Dorado.
