El Dorado delivers top-five finishes at Hendrix Invitational

El Dorado’s swim teams traveled to Conway Thursday and competed in the Hendrix Invitational.

The Wildcats finished fourth out of 13 boys’ teams with the Lady Wildcats claiming fifth out of 11 teams in the girls’ division.

Payton Allman led El Dorado’s boys, finishing third in the 100-yard butterfly and fifth n the 200 individual medley.

Nathaniel Marino and Braden Morgan placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 500 freestyle. Everett Gati was seventh in the 100 freestyle and Luke Utsch was seventh in the 100 butterfly.

Gati, Utsch, Aleck Ramirez and Allman took third in the 400 free relay. Gati, Marino, Ramirez and Allman placed fifth in the 200 freestyle relay.

Marino, Jansen Shaffer, Utsch and Jack Dunn took seventh in the 200 medley relay.

Adrianna Arnold led the Lady Wildcats with a fifth place finish in the 100 backstroke and 10th in the 50 freestyle. Jana Powell was sixth in the 200 freestyle. Rachel Murphree was sixth in the 200 individual medley and Abigail Thompson touched sixth in the 100 freestyle.

Thompson, Murphree, Powell and Arnold took third in the 200 freestyle relay. Murphree, Powell, Arnold and Thompson finished fifth in the 200 medley relay.

“We’ve already had a lot of state-qualifying times met this year. At this meet, we had two more qualifying swims. Luke Utsch qualified in his 50 free and Allman qualified in his 100 fly,” said El Dorado coach Courtney McDiarmid Canady.

“We have a lot of other swimmers that are right on the vergeand are hoping to hit those times at the next home meet, which is this next Tuesday.”

El Dorado’s girls scored 133 points to finish behind Conway (487), Springdale (397.5), Mountain Home (284) and Fort Smith Southside (187) and ahead of Jonesboro (99), Pulaski Academy (94.5) and Mount St. Mary’s (76).

El Dorado’s boys accumulated 190 points to finish behind Conway (579), Springdale (253) and Mountain Home (204) and in front of Jonesboro (162), Fort Smith Northside (152) and Pulaski Academy (131).
