Two minors were killed in a two-vehicle wreck on Highway 79 North, between the Hampton Inn and Car-Mart of Magnolia on Monday. A third minor was injured in the wreck.

According to a Preliminary Fatal Crash Summary released by the Arkansas State Police, a Freightliner pulling a trailer without any logs was driving North on Highway 79 towards McNeil when a black 2018 Chevrolet Colorado entered the highway from a private drive and was struck by the log truck.

Both the driver and one passenger of the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado were pronounced dead at the scene by Columbia County Coroner Randy Reed at 6:45 a.m. The injured passenger was taken to Magnolia Regional Medical Center. The driver of the Freightliner was uninjured.

The report indicates that the next of kin were notified of the accident. Conditions were clear and dry at the time of the wreck. State Trooper First Class Brent Walker investigated the accident.

The bypass was blocked for several hours, with an officer directing traffic while debris from the wreck was cleared from the side of the road.
