HOT SPRINGS - Hot Springs Lakeside upended El Dorado in the 5A South opener for both schools Tuesday with a 3-2 shootout win.
The schools played to a 2-2 tie through regulation with J.D. Halstead and Santiago Schrader scoring for the Wildcats, but the Rams outscored the Wildcats 4-2 in penalty kicks to prevail.
Schrader and Daniel Cervantes converted on their penalty kicks for the Wildcats (1-2-1, 0-1), who will play at J.A. Fair on Friday.
