Arkansas Secretary of Agriculture Wes Ward was elected vice-president of the Southern Association of State Departments of Agriculture (SASDA) for 2019-2020 in its annual conference earlier this month in Forth Worth, Texas.

“It’s a great honor to be elected as vice-president of SASDA,” Ward said. “I am proud to represent Arkansas within the organization and look forward to helping lead the 17 southern states and territories in promoting southern agriculture at the federal level.”

SASDA is made up of commissioners, secretaries and directors of agriculture from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia and the United States Virgin Islands.

Ward will host SASDA’s annual conference in Arkansas in 2021.

The Arkansas Agriculture Department works to develop and implement policies and programs for Arkansas agriculture and forestry to keep Arkansas’ farmers and ranchers competitive in national and international markets while ensuring safe food, fiber and forest products for the citizens of the state and nation.
