Navigating 'Good Grid' for help

Provided to the News-Times by Debbie Watts and the SHARE Foundation

WHAT IS GOOD GRID?

Many people find themselves in helpless situations, having to deal with a multitude of issues. There are many good people and organizations ready to help, people are still slipping through the cracks. Good Grid addresses this gap by:

  • Connecting those looking for help to providers that can address their issues

  • Helping providers serve clients more effectively using online tools

  • Channeling volunteers to causes and providers that are meaningful to them

  • Enabling case workers to connect clients with wraparound services

Good Grid allows providers, volunteers, employers, and those in need work together to break the cycles of poverty, crime, and recidivism.

SOME COMPONENTS OF GOOD GRID

Good Grid has a comprehensive Search Directory of service providers, businesses, and social organizations that form a trusted, safe environment for addressing needs. It allows organizations to list their services and find other local services to refer clients to through the directory.

MyPortfolio is a client portal that includes help with employment, education, and provides a professional email address. It has various benefits:

  • My Resume: An intelligent, pre-built easy-to-edit resume system enables each individual in need to print or download a professional resume

  • Browse and Apply for Jobs: Good Grid users have access to an extensive jobs board that can be integrated with other job sites such as those created by employment specialists

  • Integrated Email: Every user of the Good Grid is provided with a professional email address with all the standard features of other email services

  • Learning Management System: An online training and certification system for customized skills development

SHARE Foundation will be hosting Good Grid training for providers of services. This will provide the opportunity for providers to register their services in this online community data base that is being widely used across Union County as well as learn how to access the services of others for the benefit of clients. The training is limited to 30 providers on July 24, 2019. If you are interested, contact Debbie Watts at the number below for more information.

The Union County Violence Intervention Plan (VIP) was developed in order to make available a network of area supports, opportunities and activities focused on best practice strategies for a community committed to changing the odds for individuals and families in need. The VIP can be viewed at www.sharefoundation.com or you can call Debbie Watts, SHARE Foundation VP of Community Impact at (870) 881-9015.
