El Dorado Works to discuss board terms, vacancies

By the News-Times Staff

The El Dorado Works Board will meet at 5:15 p.m. today in the second-floor conference room of City Hall.

The board is expected to discuss the unexpired term of chairman Robert Reynolds.

Reynolds, who also served as chairman of the former El Dorado Economic Development Board, took on the role as chairman of the EWB after the board was constituted in 2016 to administer the El Dorado Works economic development tax.

The tax went into effect in October 2015.

In 2018, Reynolds agreed to serve at least one more year on the EWB and board members agreed to revisit the issue this year.

Reynolds’s term expires in January 2023.

Board treasurer Alison Abson’s term expired last month, and she has expressed interest in serving another term.

The El Dorado City Council has also filled vacancies on two city commissions and a city board.

On Feb. 7, the council appointed former Council Member and Mayor Larry Combs and retired educator Carolyn Ellison to the El Dorado Historic District Commission and Judge Spencer Singleton to the Water Advisory Board.

Anyone who is interested in serving on the El Dorado Works Board may request an application by calling City Clerk Heather McVay at 870-881-4877.
