Home invasion leads to a local teen's arrest

A 17-year-old girl was arrested early Tuesday morning for her alleged involvement in a home invasion that reportedly involved weapons, according to an El Dorado police report.

At 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residence in the 200 block of South Roselawn.

A woman told police that a male and a female, later determined to be the 17-year-old girl, forced their way inside the residence after the male kicked in the door.

She said the male held a handgun at his side and "threatened to use it." The complainant said the girl was carrying a baseball bat.

The suspects then ran west into a wooded area nearby, the complainant said, adding that the suspects live next door to the residence.

Police said the complainant's husband provided a similar account of the incident.

While searching the area, police said they heard someone yelling in the woods approximately 100 yards away from the South Roselawn residence.

Police said that when they went into the woods, they saw the girl, who was yelling while standing in a field that is adjacent to Clark Street.

The girl admitted being at the South Roselawn residence but she said she did not kick in the door, according to a police report.

She also said she had gone to the residence "to find her husband."

The girl was taken into custody and transported to an out-of-town juvenile detention facility.

Police said they were unable to find the male suspect.
