An unidentified woman is alleged to have called the El Dorado-Union County Chamber of Commerce last week and issued a terroristic threat against a member of the El Dorado City Council.

Lt. Chris Lutman, public information officer for the El Dorado police department, said an information report about the incident has been filed with the EPD, noting that officers have not been able to identify the female caller, who reportedly threatened to shoot council member Billy Blann “if he steps onto her property again.”

Bill Luther, president of the chamber, told police the call came just after 8 a.m. Dec. 5 and the woman twice made the threat against Blann.

Lutman said officers have a telephone number from which the call is believed to have originated.

“We have no additional information. We have very little information to go on,” he said. “We have not been able to identify this person. We have been unable to figure out who this is based off this phone number”

A male’s name matches up to the number, police have said.

Blann said he thinks he my know the caller, explaining the incident may stem from an ongoing issue with one of his Ward 1 constituents whom he has helped to address water and wastewater problems she has reported at her residence.

A suspect has not been confirmed in the case.
