ADE sees record web traffic with release of school report cards

With the release on Monday of the Arkansas Department of Education’s (ADE) report cards for schools and districts across the state, the website received a record number of page views.

Prior to Monday, the myschoolinfo.arkansas.gov website’s record number of views was from April 2018 when the ADE released the 2018 Arkansas School Performance Reports and Every Student Succeed Act School Index. The record that date was over 67,000.

On Monday, the portal received 131,343 page views.

The My School Info website was launched in November 2016 with the goal of being a user-friendly interactive site that schools, parents and community members can use to access information about the schools in the area.

“Our primary purpose when developing and launching My School Info was to provide stakeholders easy access to reliable, accurate education information,” Arijit Sarkar, ADE director of information systems and chief information officer, said in a news release. “The site’s recent milestones show that our stakeholders not only value the site but are using the information on the site to make informed education decisions. We are thrilled with the website’s success and are committed to working with our partners to make further improvements that benefit all stakeholders.”

The website includes information such as district contact information, financial information, and data trends about school enrollment and testing scores. This is also where the ADE releases the annual report cards in April, school letter grades in October and school Every Student Succeed Act School Index information also in October.

The annual report card, which is the release that broke the record of page views on Monday, includes information such as graduation rates, college readiness and teacher quality.

Last year’s report cards included achievement assessment, college readiness, school performance, school environment, retention rate, teacher quality, school choice and school expenditures.

This year, additional information in the report cards include growth, English language proficiency, student quality and student success, graduation rate, long-term goals, the previous three years at a glance data and Civil Rights Data Collection information. Not all of the school districts have information for each category.
