BoomTown Nutrition puts focus on healthy eating

Business has been booming for one of El Dorado’s newest hot spots, BoomTown Nutrition, which first opened at the beginning of November.

Arissa Kirk, who owns the business along with her husband Brandon Kirk, said her number one goal for BoomTown Nutrition is for the community, as a whole, to become healthier.

“We definitely dropped the boom into the town,” Arissa Kirk said. “We expected a large population, but never did we expect this much love and support from the community. The locals here have definitely welcomed us, and more and more keep coming as the days go on.”

Located on 19th Street, BoomTown Nutrition customers will find a variety of Herbalife Nutrition products, served as teas or shakes.

According to their website, Herbalife Nutrition is a global nutrition company that offers meal replacement and energy-boosting supplements, plus much more.

Kirk said all of BoomTown Nutrition’s teas and shakes are powder-based, soy protein-based and pea-based. They also have an athletical line with whey/casein protein, she added.

“We do calorie burning energy teas,” Kirk said. “All of our teas give you mental focus, mental clarity [and] they boost your metabolism.”

Kirk said since opening, over 70 customers in El Dorado have shared weight loss results with her through their products, with losing between 4 to 13 pounds and 1 to 6 inches. Kirk added that they do weekly follow-ups and weigh-ins with their customers.

Kirk began her own Herbalife journey 18 months ago, which started off as a diet with tropical smoothies and subway salads. Since adding Herbalife’s products to her diet, she has lost a total of 147 pounds.

Kirk said she lost about 30 pounds during the first three months of her diet, but was getting discouraged because she wasn’t seeing the results she was hoping for.

“Then I was introduced to Herbalife products,” she said. “I fell in love with the products and started seeing major, major weight loss results. I went from a size 18 to a size 4.”

When she found out about the business side to Herbalife, she said she saw a vision, “and that vision I made into a reality.”

Kirk, who was born and raised in Rison, Arkansas, said she and her family decided to move to El Dorado to not only open BoomTown Nutrition, but to also give her children a better future.

“When we found out about the Promise, of course that definitely drew our attention to El Dorado,” she said. “The more research I’ve done on El Dorado, the more I’ve come to realize how much [the town] has grown and is an environment that I want to be in and my kids to be in and start a life here.”

Kirk said a vital part in their business’ success has been the help of her landlord Ken Blackmon. From helping remodel the building that BoomTown Nutrition is located, to pouring concrete for the drive way, Kirk said him and his wife “have been a big part of this.”

Kirk said her and her husband decided to open BoomTown Nutrition early, to get familiar with the community. By only promoting and advertising their business through Facebook, Kirk said they ran out of products their second day of business “from all of the love.”

“Business has only doubled since opening,” she said. “Every day it seems like we’re getting more and more numbers, which is a great thing.”

Business was so busy that Kirk started taking orders the night before so people can get them at a faster pace in the mornings. Currently she takes preorders from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and spends her evenings at the store getting preorders made for the next day.

“We have fallen in love with the locals in the community,” she said. “Their support and their feedback, and of course their business is a really big part and motivation for us … and that’s why I go out of my way.”

Kirk said BoomTown Nutrition is open from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and according to their Facebook page, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Although she couldn’t discuss her prices because of Herbalife policy, she said they offer a “tremendous amount of discounts” to make the product affordable.

They offer discounts for customers who check-in on their social media accounts, and they also offer discounts to students, veterans, military members, nurses, doctors and teachers.

“We try to make it very affordable and accommodate the locals because we want them to be healthy and their health is our number one goal,” she said.

Kirk said the most popular tea at BoomTown Nutrition is the “mermaid” tea, which is “swimming away almost every day,” she added.

Although new to the community, Kirk said she is already thinking of ways to give back.

“My husband and I have really big hearts and when I overcame the depression, it gave me more motivation to help those in need,” she said. “We plan on growing with the community and giving every ounce that we can back.”
