Anna Dawson scored 25 points Friday to lead Camden Fairview to a 64-59 win over El Dorado in varsity girls action. The Lady Wildcats slipped to 6-2 on the season.

Fairview led 16-14 after one quarter and 30-23 at the half. El Dorado trailed by four going into the final period.

The Lady Wildcats, who won the previous meeting between the two teams, failed to take advantage of some of the fundamentals.

“The bottom line is, you’re not goingto win games like that when you miss 15 free throws and 15 layups. It’s tough to beat anybody with those types of numbers,” said El Dorado coach Destinee Rogers. “It’s something we work on every day. It’s a confidence thing. We will continue to work on on it. Despite all those other circumstances that happened, if we made free throws and layups, nothing else would’ve mattered.”

Tasia Richardson and Jessica Morton paced El Dorado with 15 and 11 points, respectively. Breya Clark scored nine while LaDiamond Maker and Grace Murry contributed eight points apiece.

“I thought LaDiamond came in and gave us some huge minutes. She had to guard one of their best players and did a good job,” said Rogers, who also singled out the play of Amyiah Williams and Zaria Brown. “Our young kids came in and gave us what they could.”
