Kelly and Margie Owens grill a rack of ribs outside of their business, Owen’s BBQ, on Friday. Kelly Owens retired on January 31, 2019, and the couple has been cooking from their spot on N. West Ave. in El Dorado every Friday since April. The two have been married for 34 years and have 7 children. Kelly Owens said he learned the art of BBQ from his father. According to Margie Owens, the business has been in part a tool to strengthen family ties.“It’s been a way to pull our family together,” Margie Owens said. (Matt Hutcheson/News-Times)
