Preparation continues for Mayhaw Fest

A team including Darrin Riley, Delaine Gates, Mary Egerer, Adenia Robbins and a few other volunteers have worked for the last 3 weeks on preparing over 1300 jars of Mayhaw jelly for Saturday’s Mayhaw Festival. The recipe has been further improved this year, members of the group said on Wednesday, thanks to new methods including a triple strain technique developed by Riley. The Mayhaw Festival is set for 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. May 7 in the area surrounding the Newton House Museum, 510 N. Jackson Ave. (Matt Hutcheson/News-Times)
