El Dorado's Michael signs to play golf at SAU

El Dorado senior golfer Keaton Michael signed to play with Southern Arkansas University in a ceremony last week at Wildcat Arena. Michael led the Wildcats to a sixth-place finish at the 5A State Tournament.

“I am unbelievably excited and honored to be a part of the SAU golf team,” said Michael. “I can’t wait to get started. Golf has been such a rewarding journey and I’m ready to take the next step as a college golfer at SAU.”

Michael was medalist runner-up in the 5A South Conference Tournament. He shot 75 in the 5A State Tournament.

“Keaton Michael has worked for this opportunity most of his life,” said El Dorado golf coach Chris Ezell. “He grew up in the game early on as a member of the KidsNGolf program and moved into tournament golf and then transitioned into high school golf and playing in Jr. golf events around the southern states.

“He helped bring the 10th boys state championship in school history, which was the first boys’ title in 33 years. He was All-State that year and an All-Conference performer all four years in the 5A South. Keaton has been a true student of the game. He studies it and really works on his golf game. He has been a good example for our younger players, an outstanding student in the classroom and I am happy for him to have this opportunity to play college golf at Southern Arkansas University.”
