Lady Wildcats win, Wildcats tie at Hot Springs

HOT SPRINGS - El Dorado’s soccer girls posted a 5-1 victory at Hot Springs on Monday. In the varsity boys’ game, the Wildcats battled the Trojans to a 4-4 tie in the 5A South matchup.

The Lady Wildcats improved 4-2-1 in conference.

London Ingram scored five goals with Katelyn Hayden registering an assist.

In goal, Keyla Ramirez had four saves.

Hot Springs’ lone score was an own-goal.

“We’re still not jelling the way I want. We’re kind of one dimensional,” said El Dorado coach Neville Matthews. “We’re competitive but we’re not jelling yet.

“The defense held their own. Midfield was kind of erratic for some reason. They weren’t moving the ball around, weren’t stringing good passes together. But we got the W. We’re just not where we need to be.”

The Wildcats’ record moved to 4-1-2 in league play after the tie.

Will Obiozo scored twice with Eli Waller and Sebastian Marquez adding a goal apiece.

“That was a really intense game,” said El Dorado coach Colby Webb. “Hot Springs is a very good team and I’m proud of the way our guys kept battling. We got down 1-0 and also got down 4-3 but we stayed in it and had some chances late.”
