El Dorado tops Hot Springs; Smackover drops road tilt

HOT SPRINGS - Dominant pitching and a balanced attack led to El Dorado halting its five-game losing streak.

Holden Lowry homered and drove in two runs while also collaborating with two others on a one-hitter, as the Wildcats downed Hot Springs 9-0 in a 5A South tilt on Monday.

The Wildcats (7-7, 5-3) scored a run in the first before breaking the game open with five runs in the second.

Lowry hit a solo homer in the first before adding an RBI double in the second.

Jake Webster-Moore and Sam York also drove in two runs apiece in the win.

Peyton Howard and Xorian Robinson each had one RBI for EHS.

In addition to Lowry, Howard went 2-for-3 with a double and scored two runs.

Robinson, York and Jonah Davis each had one hit for the Wildcats, who had seven in the contest.

Lowry walked one and struck out five over three hitless innings to pick up the win.

York allowed one hit, walked three and struck out five over two scoreless innings.

Ethan Darden racked up five strikeouts over two innings to close out the game.

The Trojans (2-8, 0-7) were slated to take on Pine Bluff on Tuesday.

El Dorado is idle until Friday when the Wildcats host White Hall.

WOODLAWN 5,

SMACKOVER 3

WOODLAWN - The Bucks (3-4) scored three runs in the first to take an early lead, but the Bears (17-1) scored two runs in the third before taking the lead with two runs in the fifth.

Jaden Bryant, Wyatt Parker and Judson Wolfe drove in runs for the Bucks, who had six hits.

Britton Warren went 2-for-4 while Wolfe was 2-for-3. Bryant and Parker each had one hit for Smackover.

Parker, the Bucks’ starter, went the first three innings. He allowed two hits, two runs, walked three and struck out three.

Trace Davis took the loss after allowing two runs in two innings of work. He gave up one hit, walked one and struck out one.

Warren allowed one run in one inning. He walked two, didn’t allow any hits and didn’t register any strikeouts. 

Woodlawn is scheduled to host Junction City in an 8-2A tilt on Tuesday.

The Bucks are idle until Friday when they host Drew Central in an 8-3A showdown.
