With Thanksgiving just days away, the El Dorado City Council/El Dorado Water and Public Works has adjusted the schedule for its regular meeting this week.
Council members are expected to hear updates on several city projects when they convene for a regular council/water and public works meeting at 10 a.m. today in the Council Chamber of City Hall.
The meeting had originally been scheduled for Wednesday.
In addition to updates on ongoing municipal projects -- including a major drainage project on 10th Street between North West and North Washington avenues; construction of a new city dog pound; improvements to the Mellor Park Mall tennis/pickleball courts; the annual city street-repaving program, etc. --, the council is also expected to hear proposals from several groups regarding city contracts for services.
During a regular council meeting on Nov. 9, council members Willie McGhee and Frank Hash inquired about the annual contracts for services and asked that the groups who hold the contracts provide reports on the services they provide.
The groups include the El Dorado-Union County Chamber of Commerce, Main Street El Dorado, El Dorado Festivals and Events, Inc./MAD, the Boys and Girls Club of El Dorado and Union County Animal Control.
The contracts are a part of ongoing 2024 city budget talks.
