A fire that broke out at the Delek: El Dorado Refinery Monday evening was caused by a lightning strike, Fire Chief Chad Mosby said.

The fire broke out around 6 p.m. and was extinguished by about 8 p.m., Mosby said. The El Dorado Fire Department assisted Delek's on-site fire brigade in the response.

Mosby said he did not know of any injuries caused by the fire, but noted that medical personnel were on-site in case.

Lightning struck a heavy oil tank at the refinery, which sparked the fire, Mosby said.

Additional details were not available at press time Monday. The News-Times will continue to provide updates as they become available.
