Barton wins state archery tournament

HOT SPRINGS - Barton won the Arkansas National Archery in the Schools Program state championship in the Middle School Division recently in Hot Springs. The team qualified for the NASP National Tournament, which will be held in Salt Lake City.

Barton scored 3285 to beat out Taylor (3205), Charleston (3164), Alpena (3159), Omaha (3143) and a host of other schools. Washington Middle School scored 3075 to finish 15th.

Barton’s Ryan Polk led the way, shooting 281 to place sixth in Middle School Boys. Tate Meadows shot 281 and was seventh with Pierson Cranford ninth with a score of 280. Barton’s Hamilton Laird shot 276 (16th) and Ashton Sullivan (276) 18th. Harrison Lowery (273) and Sawyer Swint (272) finished 24th and 29th, respectively.

Cora Connor scored 275 and was third in the Girls Division with Sadie Brewster 12th with 270 and Camryn Cranford 14th with 270.

The rest of Barton’s team included John Barnett, Marleigh Murphy, Sophia Clark, Audrey Henderson, Ashleigh Curl, Sean Kirby, Justin Hammett, Jasmine Edwards and Kerrigan Delaney.

Washington Middle School was led by Harrison Langston, who shot 276 and finished 15th. Easton Parker shot 269 and was 36th. Emma Odom led the girls, shooting 266 to finish 28th.
