Parkers Chapel picks up pair of victories

BEARDEN – After being held to just one hit in their loss to Hampton on Tuesday, Parkers Chapel’s offense bounced back in a big way on Saturday.

The Trojans combined for 29 runs and 24 hits en route to wins over Bearden and Junction City by scores of 18-3 and 11-0 respectively to conclude play at the Bearden Baseball Classic.

Parkers Chapel’s pitching was also dominant with Owen Brown, Chris Greer and Sy Fife combining on a no-hitter against the Bears, while J.T. Ingram and Fife held the Dragons to just one hit.

In their three wins, PC’s pitching staff has two one-hit shutouts and one no-hitter to its credit.

Against the Bears, the Trojans (3-1) scored five runs in the first and fourth innings to take control of the game.

Drew Mason homered and drove in three runs for the Trojans, who had 12 hits.

Mason finished 2-for-2 with a walk and scored three runs.

Chandler Boykin went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple while collecting an RBI for PC.

Dyson Dougan was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. He scored three runs in the win.

Cameron Mayo was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, two stolen bases and scored two runs, while Fife was 2-for-4 with a double and scored three runs.

Branson Bryant drove in two runs and Greer had one RBI. Each had a base hit in the contest.

Greer was the winning pitcher, working two scoreless innings in relief of Brown. He walked one and struck out three.

Fife worked a scoreless fifth with two strikeouts to close out the game.

Brown allowed three runs with two being earned in two innings of work. He walked three and struck out four.

Against the Dragons, the Trojans scored seven runs in the fifth to pull away.

Ingram went the first 4 1/3 innings and struck out nine while not issuing any walks to pick up his second win in as many outings.

Fife recorded two strikeouts in 2/3 of an inning, but surrendered a double to Cole Maxey for the Dragons’ lone hit in the game.

Dougan went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs to finish 5-for-8 with four RBIs in the two games.

Ingram helped his own cause by going 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Greer was also 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Boykin went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the win.

Dylan Davies and Mayo each had one hit, while Caidyn Lewis had a base hit and an RBI for the Trojans.

Beaux Maxey took the loss after allowing two runs with both being earned in three innings of work. He allowed five hits, walked one and struck out six.

Junction City hits the road for their 8-2A opener on Tuesday when they face Ouachita.

Parkers Chapel will look to extend its winning streak to three when they host Riverdale Academy (La.) on Monday.
