Food giveaway today

The Hillsboro Street Church of Christ will offer food from its pantry to those in need today from 9-11 a.m. Those who wish to receive food should bring a state-issued ID card. For more information, call 870-863-4714.

Union County Genealogical Society meeting set for June 11

The Union County Genealogical Society will meet Sunday, June 11, at 2 p.m. at the Gallery of History, 412 E. Faulkner. The meeting will be in the Murphy USA Rotating Exhibition Hall which features displays commemorating the 4th of July.

Steve Biernacki, executive director of the South Arkansas Historical Preservation Society, will speak on several topics, and with his wife will discuss tombstone cleaning. and will address several different topics. Attendees will have an opportunity to tour the museum, and light refreshments will be provided.

Parking is prohibited on the lot belonging to the Charles Louis Laundry, but there will be ample parking on the street and behind the museum.

VBS open to all

First Baptist Church - Cordell, 620 Cordell Ave., will host Vacation Bible School from June 12-16, from 6-8 p.m. each day. The theme for this year's VBS program is "The Bible is Black History," and the program will focus on the St. Louis community. For more information, call the Rev. Fun Day set for June 10

Forward Focus & Crusaders for Hope will present a Fun Day on Saturday, June 10, at the Hillsboro Apartments, 1598 E. Short Hillsboro. The free event will include activities, a bounce house and live DJ.

CADC to meet

The Board of Directors of Central Arkansas Development Council will have a board meeting Saturday, June 24, at 9 a.m. at the Benton Senior Activity Center, 1800 Citizens Drive in Benton, Ark. The meeting is open to the public.

Historic district commission to meet today

The El Dorado Historic District Commission will meet at noon today at the El Dorado-Union County Chamber of Commerce, 111 W. Main. The meeting is open to the public.
