SMACKOVER – Smackover got off to a tough start in January, but the Bucks have bounced back and find themselves jockeying for a top seed for next month’s district tournament.

On Tuesday night, the Bucks won a thriller, as D’Kylan Hildreth’s three-point play with 30 seconds left proved to be the winning points in a 53-51 win over DeWitt in 5-3A play.

After losing their first two games this month, the Bucks have won four of their last five outings.

RJ Boone had 22 points and My’Kel Fields added 14 points for the Bucks (15-7, 4-5), who have three of their final five league games on the road starting with a trip to Dumas on Friday.

Hildreth had nine points for the Bucks, who trailed 20-18 at the end of the first quarter and 27-24 at intermission, but outscored the visitors 14-5 in the third quarter to grab a 41-29 lead before winning in dramatic fashion.

RISON – Lamontra Hankton was one of three players in double figures with 26 points for the Dragons (13-11, 4-3), who host Rison tonight to complete the 8-2A home-and-home series.

Jakourian Key had 21 points and Jakayas Jones chipped in with 12 points for the Dragons.

Demarion Henry had five points and Taylen Owens finished with four points for Junction City, who has a big week coming up following Thursday’s tilt with road games at Woodlawn and Parkers Chapel on tap.
