Council members organize community meeting for Ward 3 residents

A community meeting will be held in Ward 3 at 5:30 p.m. on Feb. 23 in the St. James Village Outreach Center, 1308 E. Hillsboro.

Ward 3 council members Willie McGhee, Position 1, and George Calloway Jr., Position 2, said the meeting is open to the public and Ward residents are especially encouraged to attend.

McGhee and Calloway made the announcement during an El Dorado City Council meeting on Feb. 9.

The purpose of the Ward 3 meeting is to give residents the opportunity to voice their concerns, address issues in Ward 3 and gather information about city government and operations, McGhee said.

"We're asking anybody to please come so that we can have a good dialogue and ask questions, where, I promise you, no question will be taken any kind of way," said McGhee.

"We just want to have this dialogue and make sure we understand the things we need so that when we come up here, we can request and make sure the citizens' issues get addressed," McGhee continued.

Calloway said all city officials are welcome to attend.

McGhee said attendees will be able to meet city officials face to face and emphasized, "We actually want the people of Ward 3 to be able to have a discussion and not take it with your emotions on your sleeve."
