STRONG - With the 2A South looking more and more imposing by the week, getting off to a good start in conference play was imperative for Strong.
On Friday night, the Bulldogs did just that with a 44-20 win over Dermott at Jerry Burson Field in the first meeting between the schools since 2010.
Kaiden McHenry threw a pair of touchdown passes to Shundarious Shelton and ran for two more scores for the Bulldogs (1-1, 1-0), who entered Friday night’s game off a two-week bye.
Germyren McHenry also ran for a pair of scores for Strong.
The game was the season opener for the Rams (0-1, 0-1), who played their first game since resurrecting their program after not fielding a team in recent years.
Strong hits the road for the first time in 2022 with a showdown at Woodlawn next week.
Dermott hosts Spring Hill next week.
