SIMMS, Texas - Smackover couldn’t get much going in their final non-conference game, as the Bucks were downed 42-8 at James Bowie (Texas) on Friday night.
Lane Johnson had a pair of touchdown runs and caught a 5-yard touchdown pass for the Pirates (3-2), who led 18-0 at the end of the first quarter and 26-0 at intermission before pulling away in the third quarter.
The Bucks’ lone points came with 58 seconds left in the third quarter on a 45-yard touchdown run by Jarius Burgie, who also scored on the two-point conversion.
The Bucks (3-2) are idle next week before traveling to Junction City in a showdown between Union County rivals.
