Fair continues today

The Union County Fair will continue today. Gates open at 5 p.m. and tickets cost $7 at the gate or $25 for a wristband.

The junior livestock show and sale will begin at 12:30 p.m.

'Sandlot' movie, cast events slated for Saturday

Gabe's Cave, Comics, Cards, & Collectibles is teaming up with Stars Cinema 6 to present a cast meet-and-greet and free screening of the 1993 cult movie, "The Sandlot" on Saturday. The Sandlot Cast Meet-and-Greet is set for 1 until 4 p.m. at Gabe's Cave, 2101 N. College, with "Sandlot" cast members Tom Guiry (Scott "Scotty" Smalls), Victor DiMattia (Timmy Timmons) and Marty York (Alan "Yeah-Yeah" McClennan). From 6 until 7 p.m., the trio will meet with fans and sign autographs at Stars Cinema 6, 2620 W. Hillsboro. The screening will begin at 7 p.m. and a cast Q & A will follow. Tickets are required for the movie screening. Tickets are free and they are available at Gabe's Cave, Stars Cinema 6, Three Birds Brewing Company, 1805 N. West Ave. and Hibbett Sports, 2620 N. Free flu clinic set for Sept. 27

Free flu shots will be available at the Union County Local Health Unit, 301 American Rd. in El Dorado, on Tuesday, Sept. 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. in a drive-through clinic. Those with insurance are asked to bring their cards.

ARDoT issues reminder to political candidates

The Arkansas Department of Transportation issued a reminder today to candidates for political office and their supporters that it is unlawful to place campaign signs on any highway right-of-way in Arkansas. Laws permit only official directional, informational and regulatory highway signs on state-owned highway property.
