HOT SPRINGS - Hope Walthall picked the perfect day to have her best performance in her varsity career with the El Dorado golf team.

A senior, Walthall blistered the Hot Springs Country Club with a 5-under-par 67 to win medalist honors at the 5A South Conference Tournament on Wednesday.

Walthall's performance guided the Lady Wildcats to a second-place finish, edging out Benton by one stroke.

On the boys side, Jon Brooks Elia and Keaton Michael shot 76 and 77 respectively to join Walthall as All-Conference selections.

The Wildcats finished third in the team competition to earn a trip to the state tournament.

Hot Springs Lakeside's Will Gordon shot a 6-under-par 66 to win medalist honors with Benton's Paxton Lane second with a 67.

“Our kids really stepped up today and had some great rounds,” said El Dorado golf coach Chris Ezell. “Hope played her best round of her career as a Wildcat when we needed it the most. She was on a mission today and stayed locked in from start to finish.

“JB and Keaton put together solid rounds and Sam (York) had a stretch where he went birdie, par, birdie, eagle, par after a rough start on his first two holes. Peyton (Howard) and Caden (Meadows) both played solid golf today.”

Sam York shot an 81, while Caden Meadows added an 83 and Peyton Howard finished with an 84 for EHS.

Daphny Chen turned in a 100, while Aubree Ezell had a 116 and Isabel Clark had a 125 for the Lady Wildcats.
