HOPE - Parkers Chapel's Bella Frisby earned medalist honors Tuesday as the Lady Trojans finished second in the district golf tournament at Hope Country Club. Horatio won the team championship, scoring 275 to beat Parkers Chapel (282) by seven shots.

Junction City shot 346 to finish third.

"We improved our team score by 21 strokes from last year," said Parkers Chapel coach Hillary Frisby. "I am very proud of their progress."

Bella Frisby shot 76 to beat Horatio's Cadee Glasgow by four shots in the individual race. Horatio's Kinley Rankin shot 92.

Parkers Chapel's Reaux McAuliffe turned in one of her better performances, finishing fourth with a 99. Makenzie Morgan (107) and Lorali Barnes (129) rounded out the Lady Trojans' scores.

Bella Frisby scored 39 on the front nine and 37 on the back.

"I didn't start off very well but I turned it around and started playing better," said Bella Frisby, who had a seven on the No. 2 hole. "I pushed the ball right and hit it out of bounds. Then, I couldn't chip and it was just a bad hole."

Frisby made up for that mistake on No. 12, hitting her tee shot three feet from the hole and then sinking the putt for a birdie.

McAuliffe shot a 44 on the back nine.

"That was one of her lower scores of the season," said Coach Frisby. "And, Makenzie improved her score from last year by 18 strokes."

Junction City was led by Allie Thurmon, who shot 108 with Jess Thurmon scoring 109. Karla Castillo (129) and Allie Doolin shot 129 and 145, respectively.

The 2A State Tournament will be held Sept. 27 at Glenwood.
