Junction City competes in tournament

As Junction City finishes one tournament, they get ready to start another.

Over the weekend, Junction City finished third at the Dermott Classic.

On Friday, the Dragons fell to Monticello 64-43.

Taylen Owens had 16 points to lead the Dragons.

Jakourian Key was next with eight points and Lamontra Hankton added six points.

Decoreon Dubose and Jay Carter each had five points and Jakayas Jones had three points to round out Junction City’s scoring.

On Saturday, Junction City rebounded to top Crossett 51-42.

Hankton, who had 22 points including the game-winning basket in the Dragons’ 46-44 win over the Eagles in their first encounter, had 22 points in the second contest.

Key was also in double figures with 15 points.

Owens had seven points, while Carter chipped in with four points and Dubose finished with three points in the win.

Junction City (4-2) starts play in the Fordyce Tournament on Tuesday against DeWitt. Game time is scheduled for 8 p.m.

The Dragons will continue play in Fordyce on Thursday before taking on Smackover in their home opener on Friday.
