Prior political experience (please include position held and dates): For the past six years, I have served as Administrative Assistant to the County Judge.
Why did you decide to run? When the current Treasurer announced her retirement, I knew this was my opportunity to serve our community in a vital role where I could utilize my education and past work experience. I have enjoyed being a public servant and assisting the citizens of Union County the past six years in my current position. Serving as the next Union County Treasurer would allow me to continue to be a public servant in an essential position.
What qualifies you for this office? I am a graduate of the University of Arkansas with a business degree. Upon graduation I was offered a job at J. B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. where I advanced to working for the Senior Vice President of Operations. From there, I was offered a position at the Walmart Corporate Office where I reported to the President of Operations for Walmart stores. In both positions, I was responsible for large budgets and finances.
In addition, I have managed all aspects of finance for Murphy Pitard Jewelers, and I serve as Treasurer for the Union County First Responder Foundation.
For the past 6 years serving as Administrative Assistant to the County Judge I have been heavily involved in the budget and budgeting process. I work closely with all county offices, especially the Treasurer's Office. I have been responsible for preparing ordinances, resolutions and agendas for the Quorum Court.
I believe my education and past work experience has prepared me to step into the position of Union County Treasurer.
What do you hope to accomplish if you're elected? I will keep accurate and detailed records as required by Arkansas law. I will provide total transparency with an open door policy at all times. I will foster a good working environment and relations with all officials and departments. I will invest and grow the county reserves.
What should voters know about you? I have been married to my husband, John, for 25 years. We have two sons, Blake, a recent graduate from SAU, and Hunter, a Junior at EHS. I am hard working, dedicated, and dependable. I strive for excellence in my work and I love helping people. I am an avid Razorback fan. I enjoy the beach and spending time with family and friends. I would like to ask the citizens of Union County for their vote in the Primary Election. I promise, I would "TREASURE" your vote!
