Louisiana man killed in Monday morning wreck

A Louisiana man was killed Monday in a fatal accident that occured in Union County near the state border.

Ladarius Gatson, 42, of Spearsville, died in a single-vehicle crash around 10:15 a.m. Monday, according to a report from the Arkansas State Police.

According to the report, Gatson was travelling west on Leichman Road, in a rural area of Union County, Monday morning, on a Honda Foreman ATV when he lost control of the vehicle. The report says the ATV crashed on the south side of the road in the woods.

Gatson was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Union County Sheriff's Office responded to the wreck, according to the report.

Road conditions were reportedly dry at the time of the accident, but weather conditions were unknown, according to the ASP.

This was the fourth fatal highway accident to occur in Union County so far this year, according to state police.

In April, Jason Langley, 46, of El Dorado was killed in a two-vehicle wreck on Highway 167 that left a Junction City man injured. Chandler Knight, 20, of Hamburg was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 82 in March. In February, Michael Simmons, 45, of Felsenthal was killed in a motorcycle wreck in Strong.

According to state police, this was the 165th fatal accident on any Arkansas highway so far in 2022, and Gatson's is the 182nd death resulting from a fatal wreck.
