The South Arkansas Arts Center is wrapping up the third week of their summer camp series, as young ballerinas finish learning a performance of a ballet based on "The Wizard of Oz."

Last week, seventh through 12th graders learned "Grease the Musical," and before that, students learned where art and science meet and the basics of theater and built bug hotels in this season's first week of camps.

John Lowery, assistant executive director of SAAC, said space is still open in the Advanced Art Camp for third through ninth graders, as are scholarships to register for the camps.

"We're glad to have a building full of kiddos," Lowery said.

Two exhibits are currently on display at SAAC: "Glances: Fresh Views of Lands and Life" by V... Vaughan, which hangs in the Merkle Gallery through June 28, and "Home Work" by Emily Moll Wood, which hangs in the Price and Lobby galleries, also through June 28.

SAAC is also preparing for its upcoming production of "Mamma Mia!" The musical, directed by Cherrie Sciro with musical direction by D.H. Clark, stars Courtney Taylor as Sophie Sheridan; Andria Gleghorn as Donna Sheridan; Thomas Brewster as Harry Bright; Chris Curry as Bill Austin; and Brooks Walthall as Sam Carmichael, as well as a host of other local residents in supporting and ensemble roles.

Performances of "Mamma Mia!" are scheduled for July 14-16 and July 20-24. Evening performances will start at 7:30 p.m., with 2:30 p.m. Sunday matinees
