El Dorado hits road to face Sheridan

After a week off, El Dorado’s wrestling teams hit the road for a meet at Sheridan tonight.

The event starts at 5:30 p.m.

In their last outing at Hot Springs Lakeside, Dunte Maker, Ahmayus Young and Emily Gonzalez all came away with victories.

The meet at Sheridan also starts another busy week for EHS, who heads to North Little Rock for a two-day meet starting on Friday.

As far as Tuesday is concerned, El Dorado coach Jimmy Johnson said his wrestlers face a tough challenge.

“Sheridan is usually a good, deep team. We will have to be ready to compete,” Johnson said. “We have to go at it from the starting whistle. We need to take what we have learned and keep the pressure on.”

Down time has been a rarity for EHS during the season, but after competing at Hot Springs Lakeside, the teams had a few days to get back to work on several things during practices.

“We used this time to work on things, like getting off the mat when in the down position, scoring when we have the advantage, and tweaking any problems we had in our shots and takedowns,” Johnson said.

For El Dorado to have success at Sheridan, Johnson said there were several keys.

“We need to create opportunities, then capitalize. Outwork the opponent with a plan to win,” Johnson said.
