The South Arkansas Arts Center has planned an "eggciting" edition of Corks and Canvas this month, when local artist Chris Stone will lead the workshop.
A popular and engaging Corks and Canvas instructor, Stone has led workshops and participated in other SAAC events for the last six years. This month, workshop participants will paint a "spring robin" on an 11 inch by 14 inch canvas with acrylic paint.
"I often find inspiration in nature," said Stone. "I find the changing of the seasons beautiful. There's certain things we look for when we know spring is right around the corner. The arrival of the robins is when I know it's officially here. We'll be painting robin eggs in anticipation for their arrival in early March. And I am none too ready!"
Corks and Canvas is a monthly art class for non-artists who want to try their hand at painting. Each class is led by a different award-winning art instructor who takes the class step-by-step through the painting process to complete a work of art in three hours.
Snacks are provided at the event, and participants are welcome to bring their beverage of choice.
This month's workshop is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 20, at 6 p.m. The pre-paid, non-refundable $40 class fee will cover all supplies and snacks.
For more information, or to register for this month's class, call the SAAC office at 870-862-5474 or visit saac-arts.org. Class space is limited.
SAAC is located at 110 E. 5th St. in El Dorado.
