Parkers Chapel picks up road sweep at Spring Hill

HOPE - Parkers Chapel traveled to Spring Hill on Tuesday and came home with a pair of varsity basketball victories. The Trojans won the senior boys’ game 49-44 after the Lady Trojans prevailed 64-42.

The Trojans trailed 12-11 after one quarter and led 21-16 at the half. PC was up 35-30 going into the fourth. The Trojans built double-digit leads in both the third and fourth quarters.

“I thought our guys did a really good job defensively tonight,” said PC coach Josh Langley. “We’ve got to do a better job finishing quarters but outside of that, we played much better.”

Chris Greer and Lancer Clark both scored 13 points while Elijah Brown finished with 12.

“We had several players make big plays for us tonight,” Langley said. “Payton Willeford, Brody Goodwin and Braydon McGoogan both played extremely well and I thought our bench did a great job staying involved throughout the night. I could hear our bench communicating with the players on the court all night, especially when we were on defense.”

The Lady Trojans improved to 9-6 overall and 5-1 in conference.

The girls’ game was tied 31-31 at the half. PC held the Lady Bears to just 11 points in the second half and outscored Spring Hill 21-4 in the third quarter.

Kallie Martin led the Lady Trojans with 17 points while Bella Frisby added 15 and Madison Sullivan chipped in with 12 points on four 3-pointers. Rebekah Hardy and Makenzie Morgan contributed nine and seven, respectively.

Tara Reeves and Cristina Marin led Spring Hill with 12 and 10, respectively.

Spring Hill won the junior girls game 32-30. Rivers scored 10 for PC, which fell to 9-3 overall and 2-1 in league play.

Parkers Chapel will host Fordyce on Friday.
