Volleyball season to start this week

The fall sports schedule picks up the pace this week with a full slate of golf and tennis action while volleyball season begins for El Dorado and Smackover.

The Lady Wildcats open the volleyball season on Monday as they entertain Magnolia at Wildcat Arena, beginning at 4:30 p.m. with junior varsity. El Dorado will host Little Rock Hall on Tuesday, beginning at 5 p.m.

Smackover will unveil its first-ever JV volleyball team on Monday with its season opener at Emerson, beginning at 5 p.m. The Lady Bucks will travel to Harmony Grove on Tuesday, beginning with junior high at 4:30 p.m. On Thursday, Smackover will have its home opener against El Dorado, beginning at 4:30 p.m., at the Norphlet Gymnasium.

Smackover's tennis team will open its season Tuesday against Magnolia, beginning at 4 p.m. at Southern Arkansas University.

El Dorado and Parkers Chapel both opened their tennis seasons last Thursday. The Lady Wildcats will travel to Lake Hamilton on Monday and to White Hall on Tuesday for conference matches. The Lady Trojans are scheduled to host Camden Fairview on Tuesday and Hampton on Thursday.

El Dorado's JV golf team plays Harmony Grove at Highland on Wednesday, beginning at 3:30 p.m. The varsity golf teams travel to Hot Springs Country Club on Thursday for an important league match against Hot Springs Lakeside, beginning at 2 p.m.

Parkers Chapel and Junction City will play Cossatot on Wednesday at the Lions Club, beginning at 3:30 p.m.

El Dorado's freshman football team will travel to Cabot to face Mountain Home on Thursday, beginning at 7 p.m. Barton's 8th graders will open play at 5:30 p.m.
