Local nonprofit collecting backpacks for foster families

The local chapter of The CALL, a non-profit that works to match foster children with Christian families in the community and provides assistance to those families, including supplies, support and education, is currently collecting school bags to give to foster families in the community for the new school year.

The CALL's county coordinator Karen Hicks said that while she has a number of suitcases, she is looking specifically for backpacks for children to use both for school and generally.

"Backpacks are multi-use... I'm looking for good, quality new backpacks that will last the school year for all ages from kindergarten to seniors in high school," Hicks said.

Currently, Hicks has two backpacks in stock and said that twenty would "meet the need."

Donations can be taken to The Call's office in El Dorado at 1024 N. Euclid or dropped off at All About Flowers downtown.

For more information, Hicks can be reached at [email protected].
