LAKE VILLAGE – Two big plays by Lake Village’s defense gave the Beavers all of the momentum they would need in a 40-0 win over Smackover in the 6-3A opener for both schools on Friday night.
The Beavers forced the Bucks to turn the ball over on downs at the 15 late in the first quarter before opening the scoring moments later.
The Beavers then returned an interception for a touchdown on the ensuing possession for their second score in just over two minutes to extend their lead to 14-0.
Lake Village scored once in the second quarter to take a 21-0 lead at halftime before breaking the game open in the second half.
The Bucks (2-2, 0-1) will host Harmony Grove next week.
Lake Village (1-3, 1-0) hit the road to take on McGehee next week.
