Beebe knocks off Junction City

BEEBE – The momentum of a football game can turn in an instant.

Late in the second quarter, Junction City found itself in the red zone, poised to take its first lead of the game.

However, a turnover led to one score and a recovery on the ensuing kickoff led to another, as Beebe pulled away to top Junction City 49-12 at Bro Erwin Stadium on Friday.

With 5:09 left in the first half, AJ Ivory scored on a 21-yard run to bring the Dragons within 14-12.

The Dragons (2-3) then recovered a fumble on the kickoff and drove to Beebe’s 11, but a turnover gave the ball back to the Badgers, who needed just two plays to strike and extend their lead to 22-12 after the 2-point conversion.

The Badgers (1-3) then recovered the kickoff and scored on the first play of the drive to extend their lead to 28-12 at intermission.

After scoring twice in 12 seconds late in the first half, the Badgers scored on their opening possession of the third quarter to take a commanding lead.

Jordavion Williams had 77 yards on 20 carries for the Dragons, while Ivory tallied 74 yards and a score on nine carries.

Jamal Johnson threw a 9-yard touchdown pass to Hayden Hudson in the opening period for the Dragons.

Junction City had 191 of their 249 yards of total offense on the ground.

Beebe finished with 528 yards of total offense, including 303 through the air.

Junction City is idle next week before starting conference play in a showdown at Fordyce on Oct. 8.
