Civitan auction, online this year, starting today

Bids are open at the 63rd Annual Civitan Auction, which is being held online for the second year in a row.

Bidding will remain open through Thursday, Sept. 24.

The El Dorado Civitan Club, founded in 1958, is a volunteer service organization. Two-thirds of the proceeds from the annual auction benefit the South Arkansas Developmental Center for Children and Families.

The auction also helps to funds other charitable projects for local youth throughout the year.

This year, area merchants have donated more than 50 items for auction. Throughout the 11 days the auction is open online, all items will remain up for bid, and those who participate in the auction will be able to bid on any item as many times as they like.

"Our community has always been very supportive of the Civitan Auction and we are looking forward to continuing that tradition this year," said Civitan Club President Frank Hash.

Items up for auction range from trailer tires, tire services, tool sets and gun cleaning supplies to home decor, activity certificates, cooking supplies and jewelry.

"We thank you in advance for your participation," Auction Chairman Mike Dumas said.
