Organizer seeking more vendors for pop-up shop event

El Dorado resident Janice Hicks said she and her husband, Lorenzo, are currently planning an event with vendors, children's activities and more, and they're looking for more vendors and nonprofits to participate.

Set to be held outside Washington Middle School on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 1 to 6 p.m., the Union County Fall Breeze Pop-Up Shop is a way to "give back to the community," Hicks said.

"We have been in business for 20 years now with Legal Shield and Pac-Man Bail Bonds and just want to give back, get people together and have a good time," Hicks said.

Hicks said the pair are organizing the event through their nonprofit venture "Better World."

Nonprofits will be able to set up booths free of charge at the event, while other vendors will need to pay a fee to participate.

So far, Hicks said, Southern Airways has joined the event as a sponsor and will give away several airline tickets.

Representatives with the Arkansas Minority Health Commission will also be on hand to give health screenings.

In addition to the vendors and booths, the event will also feature bouncy houses and other children's activities, live music and giveaways.

Hicks said she plans to hold a smaller-scale version of the event with vendors and nonprofits on the first Saturday of each month moving forward.

Food truck and other vendor slots are still available for the event.

Vendors or nonprofits who want to participate can contact Hicks at 870-562-9434.
