An El Dorado man was killed Friday night in a hit-and-run incident on West Hillsboro.

Police were dispatched to 312 W. Hillsboro shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, in reference to a hit-and-run involving a dark-colored SUV and a man in a wheelchair, El Dorado Police Public Information Officer Lt. Andrew Russell said.

Upon arrival, police found Andrew Ghormley, 38, lying unconscious in the eastbound lane of Hillsboro. Russell said Ghormley was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Russell noted that the SUV believed to have hit Ghormley might have been burgundy-colored.

The scene of the incident was turned over to the EPD's Criminal Investigations Department, and detectives' investigation is ongoing.

"Anyone with information in regards to this incident is encouraged to call the El Dorado Police Department at 870-881-4800 or the contact the detective division at 870-881-4810," Russell said in an email. "All calls will be kept confidential."
