Police investigating fatal hit-and-run

An El Dorado man was killed Friday night in a hit-and-run incident on West Hillsboro.

Police were dispatched to 312 W. Hillsboro shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, in reference to a hit-and-run involving a dark-colored SUV and a man in a wheelchair, El Dorado Police Public Information Officer Lt. Andrew Russell said.

Upon arrival, police found Andrew Ghormley, 38, lying unconscious in the eastbound lane of Hillsboro. Russell said Ghormley was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Russell noted that the SUV believed to have hit Ghormley might have been burgundy-colored.

The scene of the incident was turned over to the EPD's Criminal Investigations Department, and detectives' investigation is ongoing.
