Smackover tops Spring Hill for 2-0 start

El Dorado swim teams compete in Russellville

SMACKOVER - Two nights, two wins for Smackover’s boys basketball team.

After opening the season with a road win at Hamburg, the Bucks knocked off Spring Hill 60-54 in their home opener on Friday night.

Jakessio Welch paced the Bucks (2-0) with 19 points.

D’Kylan Hildreth was also in double figures with 16 points for Smackover.

Colin Purifoy had 23 points for Spring Hill.

In the girls game, the Lady Bucks dropped their second straight, falling 68-46 to Spring Hill.

Laylah Gatson had 14 points, while Jaydyn White and Carlie Crawford were also in double figures with 10 points apiece for Smackover.

Erin McMaster had 15 points for Spring Hill.

In Thursday's games at Hamburg, the Bucks came away with a 69-47 win while the Lady Bucks were downed 54-22.

Hildreth had 19 points to lead the Bucks, while Welch and Anthony Eutsey added nine points each in the win.

Gatson had 11 points for the Lady Bucks.

EHS COMPETES IN CYCLONE NOVEMBER INVITATIONAL

RUSSELLVILLE - El Dorado competed Thursday in the Cyclone November Invitational swimming meet, which was held at the Russellville Aquatic Center.

Adrianna Arnold won the 200 freestyle and led the Lady Wildcats to a sixth place showing. Arnold won the event in a time of 2:16.50 and was also third in the 100 butterfly.

Jana Powell was third in the 200 freestyle and fourth in the 100 breaststroke.

In boys, the Wildcats’ Braden Major finished second in the 200 freestyle and fourth in the 100 backstroke. Jack Dunn was fifth in the 50 freestyle.
