Stars pick up sweep on road

PARAGOULD - South Arkansas Community College’s women’s basketball team picked up its first-ever win with a 60-36 win over Crowley’s Ridge JV squad on Tuesday.

The Stars are in their second season of active competition and third overall.

Lexi Pyle had 11 points, as did former Strong standout Dyinasty Davis.

The Stars made it a sweep with the men winning 69-67 in a thriller with Xavier Hall winning the game on a buzzer-beating putback.

Hall finished with a double-double, his second in as many games, tallying 10 points along with 12 rebounds.

Kalen Houston led the Stars with 11 points, while Michael Pryor had 12 rebounds.

The men’s team will look for a 3-0 start when they host Twin City Premier Friday night at 6 p.m.

The Stars will have a home doubleheader on Tuesday against East Texas Baptist JV with the women’s game set to start at 5:30 p.m.
