Smackover falls to McGehee

SMACKOVER – McGehee scored 16 points in a span of just under 2 1/2 minutes en route to topping Smackover 42-0 in the regular-season finale for both schools on Friday night.

The Owls (10-0, 7-0) clinched the 6-3A title outright with the win and join Charleston, Hoxie and Prescott as the lone unbeaten schools in the 3A ranks heading into the playoffs.

The Owls, who have allowed 20 or more points just once this year, picked up their second shutout.

McGehee sandwiched two touchdowns with a two-point conversion around a safety late in the first quarter to take a 16-0 lead.

The Owls led 24-0 at intermission before winning by the final margin.

The Bucks (4-6, 2-5) went 2-2 in their last four games to finish sixth in the conference.
